Carol Adkins Obituary

Carol Sue Finch Adkins, age 75, of Cannel City, KY, departed this life on Sunday, May 5,2019 at Northpoint Healthcare, Lexington, KY  after a brief illness. Carol was born August 2,1943 in Morgan County, KY, a daughter of the late Leonard Joshua and  Audie Burton Finch. On April 3, 1962 she was unite in marriage to Donald Edward Adkins of Sandy Hook, KY., who departed this life November 12, 2005, after 44 years of marriage.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Donovan Finch, nephew Steve Finch and grandson Chad Adkins. Survivors includes two sons, Leonard Dee Adkins of Cannel City, KY, and Gregory Dwayne Adkins (Micki) of Dayton, Ohio. Two grandchildren Joshua Scott Adkins (Carol Ann) of Fairfield, Ohio. and  MaKayla Nicole Adkins & fiancé Paul Mullins of Winchester, KY. Two step granddaughters. One great grandson Brayden Hunter Adkins of Fairfield, Ohio. One sister Gloria Prater of Cannel City, KY. Two brothers Charles Finch (Lois) of Milford, Ohio. Roger Finch (Sheila) of West Liberty, KY Three sisters-in-law. Mary Sue Finch, Camargo, KY; Carol Jean Adkins Ratliff and Joyce Ann Adkins Reynolds both of Grayson, KY. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carol graduated in 1961 from Hazel Green Academy in Hazel Green, KY, where she attended two years. She loved the school and learned so much there. She left Morgan County in 1962 after getting married. She worked for Monsanto Chemical Company for 5 years,left there after getting accepted to work for Avon Manufacturing Co. in  Springdale, Ohio where she worked 31 years. She loved it at Avon, held many positions, made so many friends and memories. It was a fun place to work. After retirement; she bought the home place and moved back to Cannel City in 2003. Where she opened a Antique Shop with her brother, Roger, in his grocery store. Carol has volunteered with many organizations in West Liberty. She loves being out meeting old and new friends. She loved to Maytown on Tuesday night to Maloney's Jamboree and listening to the gospel and bluegrass music.

Carol is of the Baptist faith. She got saved and baptized when she was 10 or 11 years old at vacation bible school at the union Church in Cannel City, KY. This helped her to grow spiritually in her young years. When she was 22 years old, she rededicated her life to the Lord in Springfield, Ohio at the Faith Baptist Church. She visits different churches, and say she get a blessing out of the services every time she goes to church especially the singing. She loves going to gospel singings, but say's she can't sing. Carol loves being with people-she's a people person. She loved God, family, friends. She was grateful for all the blessings bestowed on her and her family.

Funeral services will be held 12:noon Wednesday May 8, 2019 at  Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Tharp officiating. Burial in Burton Fork Cemetery, Salyersville, KY. Visitation will be 6:00pm Tuesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY. Pallbearers: Paul Mullins, Kevin Prater, Steve Sargent, Kevin Finch, Jeff Finch, Ray Prater and Matthew Prater.
