Donald Ray Whitt, Sr., age 67, of Highway 772, West Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019, while in the care of his loving family. Born September 29, 1952, in Xenia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Emma Beatrice Barker Whitt and Otis Bill Whitt. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Billy Eugene Whitt and Roger Whitt as well as two nephews, Dewayne Blair and Michael Watson, preceded Donald in death.
He is survived by one daughter, Anita Kaye Whitt Brown; two sons, Donald Ray Whitt, Jr., and Billy Strochs Whitt (Jessica); three sisters, Kathleen Blair, Thelma June Mitchell (Sonny), and Gloria Jean Whitt. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Kelsey Brown along with his girlfriend, Ernestine Watson, a special friend, Benny Perkins and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Whitt, widow of his late brother, Billy. A host of nieces and nephews who will miss his loving smile also survives him.
Donald was a retired carpenter. He was known for his attention to every detail. To say he was meticulous about his work is an understatement. He took pride in the many projects he has built throughout Florida, Ohio, and Kentucky. He was a member of the Zag Community Church and often attended the Eagle Eye Ministry Church. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior on Easter Sunday, 2018.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky, with Bro. Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox Cemetery on Highway 519, West Liberty, Kentucky.
Pallbearers: Chad Brooks, Ricky Fleming, Eddie McFarland, Benny Perkins, Jacob Sergent, and Kaleb Sergent. Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Cox, Cooper Fleming, Conner Fleming, Collin McKenzie, Sonny Mitchell,James Sergent, and J.R.Keeton.
Visitation will be 6:30pm Wednesday, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky.
