Gordon Ray Stewart

Gordon Ray Stewart, 84, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at his home in Ezel, KY. He was born in Ary, KY, on October 27, 1933, to Walter Lee and Effie (Williams) Stewart, who both preceded him in death. Gordon proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps, Sea Going, during the Korean War. He spent the majority of his service at sea, but was also stationed in Okinawa and Tokyo, Japan. Gordon retired from Navistar International in Springfield, OH, in 1985. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed raising horses, tending to his various animals and his gardens. He has been a member of Jackson, KY, Seventh Day Adventist Church for 14 years. He was a great lover of the outdoors and a greater lover of his God and his family. His heart and his door were always open to any who needed him.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Kemplin) Stewart, whom he married on October 10, 1981. He is also survived by one brother, Virgil (Barb) Stewart of Sebring, FL, and two sisters, Audrey Noonan and Faye Pack, both of Springfield, OH; three sons, Kyle (Judy) Hensley of Cortez, CO, Rick (Julie) Stewart and Randy (Deena) Stewart of Xenia, OH; two daughters, Kim Whitacre of Ezel, KY, and Tammy (David) Chrisman of Xenia, OH; 2 step children whom he loved as his own; Rod (Nina) McMahan of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Tonya Krieger of Ezel, KY; a special granddaughter, Mandy Murnahan, who he also raised; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him sorely.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Pastor Ed Hoffman and Rev. David Chrisman officiating. Interment in Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, Kentucky with Military Honors conducted by Morgan County D.A.V. Chapter # 132 .Visitation, 11:00am Tuesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.  Pallbearers: Todd Whitacre, Brandon Stewart, Nathan Chrisman, Josh McMahan, Ben Chrisman, Zach Stewart, Luke Stewart and Jadon Hill.
