James Hardin Howard, age 76, of Hwy 1274,Frenchburg, KY, passed away Tuesday, May 14,2019 in St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead, KY, after a brief illness. He was born October 30, 1942 in Little White Oak, KY (Morgan Co.) a son of the late James Luster and Virlie Bolin Howard. He attended the Toms Branch Church and the Dayspring Assembly. He was a heavy equipment operator in the coal mines. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Pairleen Pack and Dolly Alice Keeton, a brother Lundie Woodrow Howard and a grandson.
Surviving is his wife, Velma Ferguson Howard of Frenchburg, KY. Children; Deloris Burks of Sharpsburg, KY; Darrel Burks of Stanton, KY; Pamela Curtis of Jeffersonville, KY. James Shannon Howard of Frenchburg, KY. Twenty-one grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Six siblings Lizzie Vanover of Fairborn, OH; John Ed Howard, Nannie Mae Lemaster, Donnie Howard, Shirley Adams,and Sharon Fannin all of West Liberty, KY.
Funeral service will be held 1:00pm, Friday May 17,2019 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Rodney Coffey and Bro. Raymond Van Cleave officiating. Burial in Staver Smith Cemetery, Dingus, KY. Visitation will be 11:00am Friday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY. Pallbearers: Michael Howard, Aaron Howard, Brandon Slone, Trinity Bressler, James Curtis, Derick Adkins.
