Mabel Prater-Nickell Obituary

Mabel Oney Prater-Nickell, 82, Lexington, KY, formerly of Cannel City, KY passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at her granddaughter Perdita home, after a brief illness. She was born April 18, 1936 in West Liberty, KY, daughter of the late Park Oney and Reva Spencer Prater. She was an active church member, a retired seamstress for Lion Apparel. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Reece Prater and Burnice Nickell, granddaughter, Cassie Lou, two brothers, James Paul Oney and Dale Prater.

Surviving is five children, Louise & Bob Martin of Wrigley,KY; Reeca Prater of Winchester, KY; Martha & Jerry Stacy of West Liberty,KY; Sue & Jesse Perkins of Cannel City,KY, and John & Chasity Prater of Campton,KY.

Eighteen grandchildren, Perdita with whom she resided, Ralishia, Nathena, Nathaniel, Matthew, Adam, Kayla, Brent, Brandon, Nictoria,Sarah, Katey, Reece, Braden, Gabriel, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Jonathan.

Fourteen great-grandchildren; Jackson, Tristan, Emily, Joseph, Elliott, Aaliyah, Aiden, Olivia, Grace, Cameron, Kenleigh, Isabella, Conor, Gage. One great-great-grandson, Aiden Jeremiah.

Six brothers, Bobby Gene Oney, Homer Prater, Lanny Prater, Terry Prater, Jackie Prater, and Jimmy Oney, also two sisters, Renella Elam and Goldie Oney.

Funeral service 1:00pm,Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Rev. George Oney and Rev. Mike Frisby officiating. Burial in Prater Cemetery, Adele, KY. Visitation, 6:pm, Friday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.

Honorary pallbearers, Grandchildren. Active pallbearers, Nathaniel Buck, Matthew Prater, Adam Cooper, Brent Perkins, Brandon Perkins, Tristan Ratliff, Greg Oney and Reece Prater.
