Allan Goodpaster, age 90, passed away Monday, September 26th, 2022. Born December 23, 1931 on Caskey Fork, he was the son of the late James Ray and Ina Susan (Susie) Haney Goodpaster and widower of Nora Jane Centers Goodpaster. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Goodpaster,Jr. and Dolph Goodpaster, and sister, Nellie Cain. He is survived by his son, Glennis (Susie); granddaughter, Hilary Murray (Zachary); grandson Alex Goodpaster (Becky); great-grandchildren, Eli Kash Goodpaster and Nora Jo Goodpaster; brother, Randall Goodpaster, sister, Pat Puckett; and several nieces and nephews.
An astute businessman, Allan built a successful tire company, and in later years, operated a prosperous Thoroughbred farm. A good Samaritan, any success was always shared with those less fortunate, and he relished in being able to help when needed. Allan loved farming and being on a tractor, logging thousands of hours tending to his farm from dawn to dusk. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his great-grandchildren. While these are all good reminders of him, he was most known for being a cut-up and a merry prankster, usually with the help of the late John Keller. Allan was a Christian, and longtime member of Broadway First church of God. A life well-lived, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank his friends Karl Elam and Virginia Patrick for their care and support over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadway First Church of God, West Liberty, KY.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, September 29th, 2022 and held at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Brother Karl Elam officiating, with interment in Ezel Cemetery, Ezel,KY. Visitation will be 11:am to 1:00pm Thursday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.
Pallbearers will be Alex Goodpaster, Zachary Murray, Issac Allen, Randall Goodpaster, Danny Dyer, Jacky Brown.
