Barbara June Chester

Barbara June Chester from DeSoto, TX, age 87, died peacefully November 30, 2021, in her sleep of natural causes at home. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Buford Chester, their three children, Gail Chester-Jeanis and her spouse Dal Jeanis, Jeremy Chester and his spouse Samatha Chester, and Dan Chester and his spouse Kathleen, along with 8 grandchildren: Caitlin, Alexandria, Rachael, Elliana, Storm, Lucas, Thomas, and Alexander, as well as two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Caleb.

Barbara was born in Chicago, Illinois, and had a sister Euple, 18 years her senior. Barbara was a preacher’s daughter and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ deeply and was faithful her entire life. She graduated from Dayton Bible College in 1956 from a 3-year program. Records from that day show that she gave the “sermonette” for her graduation.

Barbara was an accomplished musician and played both the piano and the organ and routinely played at the churches she attended. She was also a well-known prayer warrior and daily interceded on behalf of others.

Barbara was deeply devoted to her family. They and her Lord were her identity. Born a child of early post-depression years, she took delight in beautiful clothes and shoes. She enjoyed the small things of life and took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of her time - centered around faith and family. There was no greater goal.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 14,2021 at 11:00am in the Morris Cemetery, Caney, KY. Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY in care of the funeral arrangements on Barbara June Chester.
