Betty Faye Cox Nickell, age 88, of KY 191,Hazel Green, KY passed away Sunday, February 12,2023 in the Elliott County Nursing & Rehab Center, Sandy Hook, KY after an extended illness. Born June 26,1934 in Gilmore, KY to Arnold Ray Cox and Marie Gibbs Cox.
Betty was a life long member of the Hazel Green Christian Church\ Disciples of Christ, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a secretary for the Red River Elementary School for over 30 years. Betty was a gifted seamstresses, quilt maker, pie maker and candy maker. Mountain Rural Telephone Corp board member for many years.
Surviving are her two children, daughter, Pam & Doug Wilson, son, David Ray Nickell, both of Hazel Green, KY.. Two granddaughters, Carla Hileman (Kevin) and Sara Hall (Jimmy), Three great-granddaughters, Abby Keeton, Olivia Hall, Adalyn Hileman. One sister, Paula Dye of Loveland, Ohio, one brother Don Cox (Jean), of West Chester, Ohio. Special cousin, Genell Walker & family. Very special roommate, Mary Adkins and son Rick, host of extended family. Special thanks to Elliott Co. Nursing and Rehab staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Ray Cox & Marie Gibbs Cox, her husband Bill Jack Nickell, four brothers-in-law, Quentin Nickell, H. H. Nickell, Rex Nickell and Barney Dye.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, February 16,2023 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Pastor David Fields officiating. Interment in Evans Crossing Cemetery, Campton,KY. Visitation starts 10:00 am Thursday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral home, West Liberty, KY.
