Emery Jay Sparks of Malone, KY passed away on December 2,2023 at his home surrounded by his wife, family and friends. Jay was a lifetime farmer and heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed horseback riding, His cattle and gardening, and his little dog ‘Little bit’ who was always by his side even on the tractor and 4-wheeler. He enjoyed family trips and silly Christmas traditions.
Jay was born to the late Ova Sparks and Opal Burchwell Sparks on May 1,1945 in Dingus, KY. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Emery Jay Sparks II, two brothers Wilbur Sparks and click Sparks, and sister Louvon Sparks, sister-in-law Clarice Sparks, brother-in-law, Jeff Farley.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Gilliam Sparks, two sons, Steve (Lee) Sparks, and Michael Sparks both of West Union, OH, one daughter Delane Farthing of West Union, OH. One stepson, Derrick ( Monika) Tomes of Flemingsburg, KY. Three stepdaughters, Tennia Roberts of West Union, Oh, Michelle (Steven) Lewis and Angie (Mike) Muse both of Flemingsburg, KY. Eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One brother, Dallas Sparks of West Liberty, KY and five sisters, Vonnie DePaul of Tipp City, OH, Belle (Bob) Walls of Dayton, OH, Phyllis Gevedon, Lois Farley and Cona (Larry) Blevins all of West Liberty, KY. Host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Tuesday, December 5,2023 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Harry Flannery and Speaker Bob Walls. Interment in Beculhimer Cemetery, Hwy 437, West Liberty, KY. Pallbearers are family and friends. Visitation, 11:00am Tuesday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY
