Florence Caudill Obituary

Florence Lane Caudill, age 93, of Ezel, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home, after an extended illness. She was born on October 9, 1928, in Ezel, KY, to Courtney & Etta (Brewer) Lane.

Florence accepted Christ as her Savior, at the age of 18, at the Flat Rock Church. She and her husband John, faithfully attended & supported the Pine Grove Community Church. They also supported many charitable organizations, especially those in support of Israel, prophetic ministries, youth, & veterans.

She was an educator. She attained her first degree at Lees College in Jackson, where she also met her husband. She continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University, completing her Masters, & Rank 1 programs. She taught in one room schools at Jenkins, Zag, Big Branch, & Owsley County, followed by teaching at Camargo, Rogers, and Red River. She completed her 36 year career in the Wolfe County Central Office in a supervisory position. She enjoyed traveling & camping with her family across the country. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, and creating beauty in her home. She enjoyed her roles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. It was important to her to maintain family ties to her kinfolk in the Lane-Hylton family.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Courtney & Etta Lane; her husband, of 55 years, John Caudill; her infant daughter, Donice Elaine; two sisters, Helen Lane (Don) Tolson of Ohio and Betty Lane (Bill) Blue of Kansas; one brother Joe Lewis Lane. Her sisters-in-law: Alta Caudill (Marion) Stamper, Julie Caudill (Esom) Powers, Rebexie Caudill (Earl) Benton, Irene Caudill (Vic) Bishop. Her brothers-in-law: Beckham (Jenny) Caudill, Reuben (Gladys) Caudill, James (Ruth) Caudill.

She is survived by two sons: Aaron Mark (wife, Merita) Caudill, of Hazel Green; and John Maurice (wife, Naomi) Caudill, of Ezel; two granddaughters: Courtlyn DeShae Caudill (husband Kris) King, of Hazel Green, Cagney Erin Caudill (husband Steven) Spencer, of Pine Ridge; two grandsons: Caleb Lane Caudill and Joshua Yoder Caudill, both of Ezel. Two great grandsons: Mitchell Aaron King and James Everett King of Hazel Green. She is also survived by two sisters: Willadean Lane (the late Gene) Lawson, of Campton, and Anna Lou Lane (Jerry) Walling, of Georgetown. One brother survives, James Harold (Wanda) Lane, of Wellington, one sister-in-law, Helen Patrick Lane (Milton) Peck of Wellington, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Special thanks to Betty Vance, who faithfully assisted in her care for the last 3 years.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, January 27,2022 in Pine Grove Community Church, 4000 Hwy 882, Ezel, KY, with Brother Aaron Brooks officiating. Visitation will be held 6:00pm, Wednesday in Pine Grove Community Church, 4000 Hwy 882,Ezel, KY. Burial in Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Pallbearers: Caleb Caudill, Josh Caudill, Kris King, Steven Spencer, Kevan Lane, & James Garrett Lane.
