Hershel Adkins

Hershel Adkins, age 96, of West Liberty, KY went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday morning, October 3, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on July 19, 1925, in Elliott County, KY. Hershel was the youngest son of 13 children of the late Ervin and Mary Howard Adkins. He retired from Armco Steel in Middletown, OH after 30 years.

 He was saved and then baptized with his mother by Clifford Hutchinson on the same day. He was devoted to praising the Lord from that day on and attended church regularly. He became a member of Index Community Church. Hershel put Christ first in his life and always had his television on TBN. He loved praising the Lord and praying out to Him. He enjoyed playing the banjo and singing gospel songs. He will be forever missed but Hershel knew Jesus Christ as his Savior and has a home in Heaven with Him. One day, if we know Him, we too will join Hershel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Mary Howard Adkins; his children’s mother, Dolores Adkins; his granddaughter, Melissa Frisby Adkins also his daughter-in-law Brenda Adkins; his 11 brothers and 1 sister.

Hershel is survived by his children: Mark Adkins, West Liberty, KY; Michelle and Mickey Whitt, West Liberty, KY; Kimberly Kay and Johnny Price, Morehead, KY; Michael Scott Adkins, West Liberty, KY; Eva Mary and Scot Kemplin, Woodsbend, KY and Hershel Matthew Adkins and Becky, West Liberty, KY; 13 Grandchildren: Tiffanie and Gabe Helterbrand, Adam and Ebie Adkins, Shenea and Reggie Easterling, Charity and Brian Adkins, Ashley and Justin Williams, Chelsie and John Dagnan, Chase Price, Jordan and Jessi Whitt, Michael Samuel and Micah Solomon Adkins, Hunter Kemplin, Alley Faith Kemplin and Tyrell, Joshua Matthew Adkins. 15 Great-Grandchildren: Tyler Cantrell, Caleb and Logan Easterling; Caleb, Kaylie, Canaan and Cayce Helterbrand; Aaron and Ella Adkins; Ava Lynn Williams; JD, Perrie Michelle, and Mickie Pearl Dagnan; and Liam Pierce Whitt, Elley Grace Renee Jones.

Visitation will be held at Index Community Church, on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 6:00pm. Funeral service will be conducted at Index Community Church, on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mike Frisby and Evangelist Michael S. Adkins officiating. Entombment in Adkins Family Cemetery, West Liberty, KY at 4:30pm, October 13th.2021. Jr. Pallbearers: Caleb, Canaan, Cayce, Aaron, JD. Entombment will be Wednesday, October 13,2021 at 4:30pm in Adkins Family Cemetery, West Liberty, KY , with Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty,KY.
