Iris was born September 1, 1963 in West Liberty, Kentucky. Predeceased by her father, Lawrence Williams; her paternal grandparents, Arlington and Darcus (Lemaster) Williams; and her maternal grandparents, Elmer and Celina (Smith) Potter, she is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joe Holbrook; her mother, Lila Potter Williams; her son, T.J. Holbrook, her daughter, Lydia (James) Phipps; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She passed away on Saturday January 29,2022 at her home the age of 58 after an extended illness.
Iris was a person of myriad potential and possibility. To her beloved father, she was the perfect partner for his many festival appearances, and, most importantly, the finest fishing buddy! For her mother, her magic hands created exquisite flowers, quilts, and sundry gorgeous crafts. For her family, she was the keeper of the flame: the resident genealogist. For her little dog, Katie, she was the world. Later, when her company was forced to cease operation and her office skills were no longer required, she reinvented herself as a physical therapist assistant (for which her patients were eternally grateful). Her sunny disposition and smile were endlessly radiant and knew no sunset except this once.
