James W. Benton

James W. Benton, 90, of West Liberty, KY passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at his home after an extended illness. He was born January 18, 1933 in Hazard, KY, son of Henry Benton & Maxine Hackney Benton. He was a member of the Lick Fork Church and was a retired farmer. He was a US Army veteran.

Surviving is two sons, George Franklin Benton (Darleen) and Joseph Benton. Five grandchildren, Amanda Katherine Benton, Josie Lou Benton, Joshua Caleb Benton, Brandlyn Joyce Benton, and Scott Benton. Several great-grandchildren and one brother Charles Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Maxine Hackney Benton, his wife Dixie Lee Davis Benton, son, James Lowell Benton, granddaughter Sheresa Lynn Benton Cash, two sisters, Almadean Bressler Bates and Hilda Fern Benton Hill. Five brothers, Clell, Joe Marshall, Clifton, Tommy and Dewey Benton. Daughter-in-law, Bobbi Benton.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Thursday, October 12,2023 in Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Harold Davis officiating. Interment in the Trinity Family Cemetery, Hwy 519, West Liberty, KY (Military graveside honors conducted by Morgan County D.A.V. chapter # 132.) Visitation starts 11:00am, Thursday in Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral home, West Liberty, KY.

Pallbearers: Brent Watson, Russell Hill Jr, Joshua Benton, Keith Allen, Bobby Bressler and Henry Bressler.
