James T. Tyra

James T. Tyra, age 91 of Grassy Creek, KY departed this life Friday, July 4,2025. He was born May 25,1934 in Jackson, KY son of James H, Tyra and Viola Henry Tyra. He was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. James Tyra livid and preach his own funeral, he will be missed by all of his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife Linda Gevedon Tyra, and children Lois Gay, Karen & Vernon Shearer, Tina & Ricky Chaney, Ritchie & Dorothy Henry, Brent & Dana Henry, Bereena & Mike Rose. Two brothers Earnie Tyra & Sharon, Eldon Tyra & Becky. Host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents James H. Tyra & Viola Henry Tyra, his first wife Gloria Faye. Siblings Marylin Hubbach, Bill Tyra, and George Tyra. Son-in-law Wayne Gay.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gevedon and Bro. Brendon Rose officiating. Burial in O’Hair-Trent Cemetery, Trent, KY. Visitation, 11:30am, Sunday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.

Active pallbearers; Paul Henry, Brendon Rose, Ryan Rose, Dave Haney, Mike Rose, Jim Manning, Jake Henry, Tommy Chaney. Honorary pallbearers: Tim Gevedon, Bucky Gay, Josh Skaggs, Gary Skaggs, Chris Shearer, Nick Skaggs, and all his friends and family.
