Jessie Michael Matney

Jessie Michael Matney born March 27,2004 and passed away on January 21,2021. He was born in Morgan County, KY to Terry Michael Matney and Rosemary (Thacker) Matney. He was attending his junior year at Rowan County Senior High School. He had been employed at Dairy Queen in Morehead, KY for nine months. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in West Liberty, KY.

He was survived by his parents along with sisters Jasmine Rose Matney of Morehead, and Tommy Brooks (Chris Brooks) of Kingsport,TN. He had one brother George Standfur,Jr of Pikeville,KY. He was also survived by his maternal grandmother Maxine Lyons of Jenkins, KY and paternal grandmother Nioka Hall (Andy Hall) of Goshen, Ohio. He had three nephews Tyler Lowe (Cassidy) of Morehead, KY. Gary Lowe of Kingsport, TN and Matt Justice (Morgan), of Kingsport, TN. Host of family and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Lester and Fonnie Matney, his maternal grandfather Thomas Thacker Jr.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26,2021 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Pastor Travis Drake officiating. Burial in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. Monday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.  Pallbearers: George Standifur Jr, Tyler Lowe, Matt Justice, Junior Hager, Cameron Thornsbury, Kaleb Morrison, Braxton Jordan.

COVID-19 mandate/regulations will be followed as set forth by Governor Beshear and the CDC. The family request that visitors respect their desire to keep everyone safe by practicing social distancing guidelines and to wear a face covering of some sort.
