Joe Daniel Lykins, age 87 of West Liberty, beloved husband of Lois, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Hospice Center of the Bluegrass in Lexington, Ky, after a brief illness. He was born December 17,1936 in Malone, the son of Roger and Gladys Lykins.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Brown and Deloris Fugate, his father-in-law and mother-in -law, Wilson and Ethel Nickell.
A retired farmer, Joe was a small business owner and he and his wife Lois together were foster parents to many children and youth entrusted to their care. He was a member of Elkfork Masonic Lodge #755. Joe was baptized in the Primitive Baptist Church-Walnut Grove.
Joe is survived by his wife Lois Nickell Lykins of 64 years, daughter, Kimberly (David) Storey, M.D., Nicholasville, son, Barry (Sandra) Lykins, West Liberty, step grandson, Shaun (Jerrica) Dalton and their children, Seth, Cole, Marley and Finley, brother-in-law, Earl Nickell And wife Louise of Maytown, his sisters-in-law, Deloris Nickell of Hazel Green and Lavina Nickell of Conconully ,WA, Two nieces and 13 nephews, all of whom were very special to him.
Funeral will be 1:00pm, Saturday, December 7,2024 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Bro. Earl Nickell officiating. Interment in the Goebel Vance Cemetery, Vance Fork, KY. Visitation, 11:am, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty KY.
