Joretta Oney Obituary

Joretta Davis Oney, age 87 of Daclar Road,Cannel City, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 5,2020 at the Edgewood Estates Nursing Home, Frenchburg, Kentucky after a brief illness. Joretta was born July 27, 1932 in West Liberty, Kentucky to Salena Conley and Leslie Caskey. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Caney, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her mother, Salena Conley and her father Leslie Caskey,her husbands, Hager Davis and George Oney, two brothers Sonny Conley and Deever Patrick, and two sisters Marie Thomas and Betty Pergram.

The first thing you noticed about her was her beautiful smile. Her arms were always open to give the warmest hugs and her love for Jesus was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, and a beautiful friend. She is someone who inspired us all to live every moment to glorify the Lord. We thank Jesus for the time we had with her and we eagerly await to see her again.

Surviving is two sons, Michael Davis of Cannel City,KY, Ricky & Kozett Davis of Stacy Fork,KY. Four daughters, Susan & Junior Hager of Malone,KY, Robin & Winston Phipps of Stacy Fork,KY, Sarilda & Tim Clark, and Sharma & Ralph Hatton both of Cannel City, KY, and four steps sons; George Oney Jr, James B. Oney, Joe Oney and Matthew Oney. 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Della Davis of Hazel Green, KY. Host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm,Sunday, February 9,2020 at the Faith Baptist Church, Caney, Kentucky with Bro. Ray Fallen and Speaker Bill Frank Lacy officiating. Burial in Benton Cemetery, Cannel City, Kentucky. Visitation will be 6:00pm Saturday, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, Kentucky. Active pallbearers: Neal Clark, Hager Hatton, Jason Hatton, Jordan Hatton, Matthew Bentley, Barry Davis. Honorary pallbearers: Billy (BR) Phipps, Bill Frank Lacy, Anthony Lykins, Dean Hager, and Staff at Edgewood Estates.
