Joyce Jean Davis Ferguson passed away May 16, 2024, at the UK Medical Center, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Joyce was born on February 21, 1959, in Wolfe County, Kentucky, to Clayton and Bessie Conley Davis. She married Garry Ferguson on January 21, 1978, and together they had two daughters, Ashley and Courtney. In 1985, Joyce and Garry both were saved and began their ministry. While Garry was the face of Eagle Eye Ministry, Joyce was its foundation. Together, they built several churches, held tent revivals for weeks and months at a time, traveled across many states and even outside the country, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Joyce’s devotion to the Lord, her husband, children, and grandchildren was evident, and she was blessed beyond measure. Her daughters, Ashley and Courtney, are both saved and dedicated to serving the Lord. Ashley is currently in Bible College, and Courtney is set to release her second gospel CD. Her grandchildren are also saved and love the Lord. Joyce’s legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren as they continue to witness for Jesus Christ. She will be remembered as a true virtuous woman.
Joyce deeply loved her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Every day, she called her daughters, Courtney and Ashley, her sister Connie, and her friends. In her younger years, she loved antiquing with Pam, Ktrena, and Carla. After her grandchildren arrived, she devoted her time to them.
Joyce leaves behind her husband Garry; her two daughters, Ashley Nicole and her husband Evan Lewis, and Courtney Leigh and her husband Darrell Bailey, of West Liberty, Kentucky. She also leaves eight special grandchildren who called her Nannie: Landon Lewis, Garrison Lewis, Kainon Lewis, Kyleigh Bailey, Kynleigh Bailey, Emileigh Bailey, Nataleigh Bailey, and Judah Bailey. She is also survived by two sisters, Connie Davis Bragg and her husband Brian of West Liberty, Kentucky, and Joann Davis Downs and her husband Kenny of Pensacola, Florida; one sister-in-law, Carla Davis of West Liberty, Kentucky; two nieces, Sheila and Shoni, a nephew, Nicholas, and a host of family and friends. Her mother-in-law Leavina Whitt of Wrigley, KY. Two sisters-in-law Diana Helton of Morehead, KY, and Ktrena (Joe) Lester of West Liberty, KY. Two brothers-in-law Larry (Della) Ferguson and Lenvil Ferguson both of West Liberty, KY.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jimmy William Davis, one grandchild, Baby Bailey, one nephew, Joshua Dean Payton, and one niece, Tara Brooke Davis. Joyce will be forever missed.
Joyce touched the lives of many through her ministry. She was more than a pastor’s wife and a mother to her children; she was a mother and friend to all in her church as she embodied the virtues described in Proverbs 31:10-31. The passage reads as follows: Proverbs 31:10-31.
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Friends may visit her beginning at 11:00 a.m. and any time prior to the funeral service.
