Leon Ford Engle

Leon Ford Engle, age 78, of Hwy 437, West Liberty, KY, departed this life Thursday, September 25, 2025, at his home after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 13, 1946, in West Liberty, KY, son of Clifford Lee and Delores A. Fannin Engle. He attended the Zag Community Baptist Church. He attended Morgan County High School, class of 1966. Attended Morehead State University from 1966 to 1970. also graduated from Mayo State Vocational Technical School in 1993. He served in the Army (September 24, 1970, to March 17, 1972). He worked many places, including Maloney's Discount and Lycoming US Shoes. IBM, Lexington, Lyon Apparel factory ,Packs Tobacco, and Wal-Mart. Leon loved God first and foremost. His daily walk inspired all who witnessed it to draw closer to God. Second only to God was his beloved Brenda. As an avid reader and lifelong learner, he naturally enjoyed sharing everything he learned with anyone who cared to sit long enough to have a conversation. He held a deep appreciation for nature and found great peace in the outdoors. He possessed a quiet strength, demonstrating gentleness, patience, and kindness in his daily walk. A fierce protector of his family, he took great pains to teach his loved ones self-reliance, resilience, and overcoming adversity in any situation. He believed a job done right was a job well done. He embodied this philosophy. He held an interest in many things; music, traditional skills, history, and preparedness were just a few.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Brenda Pack Engle, and three children, Christopher Engle & Angela Brown. Selena & Jason Bailey, Eric & Christina Engle. Seven grandchildren: John Haney, Abby Engle, Allie Engle, Britteny Bailey & Zach Livezey, Justin & Sabrina Bailey, Chris Bailey & Haley, and Sonyia Bayes. Five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, James & Krista Engle, and Drexel Engle. Host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Lee & Delores A. Fannin Engle, and one infant brother, Paul Engle.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, Monday, September 29, 2025, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel, with Bro. Donnie Pack and Bro. David T. Sargent officiating. Interment in the Edison Pack Cemetery, Pack Lane, Hwy 437, West Liberty, KY (military honors conducted by Morgan Co. DAV Chapter #132). Visitation is at 6:30 pm, Sunday, at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.
