Marcus Steven Lykins, age 78, passed away Wednesday, June 24,2026 after a brief illness. He was born February 18th, 1948 in West Liberty Kentucky, the son of Aaron and Bernice DeBorde Lykins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Janice Ulhrig, his brothers Richard (Sonny) Lykins, David Lykins, and Donnie Lykins, as well as his sisters Joyce Stevens and Judy Williams.

Steve is survived by his daughter Stephanie Lykins Hardin (Gary) of Kettering, Ohio, his sister Janet Compton (Ralph) of Paris, Kentucky, and step-son Terry Grimes Jr. of Mason, Ohio, and step-daughter Nikki (Scott) Fox of Dayton, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and will be specially remembered by Talon Fox and Sophie Hardin. Steve is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Kent Lykins and Tre' Lykins, with whom he shared a very close and special bond.

Steve retired from GM/Delphi on Woodman Dr. after 34 years of dedicated service. He was a tool room machinist by trade, as well as a union representative of IUE-CWA Local 755. He held various positions in the Local 755 and retired as Executive Secretary of the local as well as Benefits Director. After retirement, he accepted a position with IUE International Union for 10 years, and retired as Administrative Director. Steve later served for four years as the Administrative Director of IUE-CWA VEBA Trust.

Steve was a 54 year member and Past Master of the Greenville Lodge #655 F&AM of Caney, Kentucky. He was also a 46 year member of Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. In addition, he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1989.

Above all else, Steve was a dedicated son, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He never met a stranger and worked tirelessly to ensure that those closest to him were always taken care of. Whether it was fish fry’s at “The Mansion” during Sorghum Festival, family gatherings in Ohio, or trips to Florida, Steve’s dedication to family brought many cousins, nieces, nephews, siblings, and friends together from Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky over the years. Regardless of the event, he worked diligently to make sure every detail was taken care of, often behind the scenes, so that those involved could simply enjoy time together. Through his many successes personally and professionally, Steve never forgot his humble upbringing, never sought or expected recognition, and most importantly will be remembered as a fiercely loyal family man and friend to all that knew him.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying the winter months at his Astor, Florida, home, trolling the St. John River for bass and crappie. He was also a University of Kentucky sports fan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky with Bro. Rick Pelfrey with a message of comfort for the family and friends. Steve’s final resting place will be the DeBorde Cemetery at Malone, Kentucky.

Masonic Rites 7:00pm Monday at the funeral home chapel conducted by the Greenville Lodge #655 F&AM.
