Michael Joe Sexton

Michael Joe Sexton of Highway 1002, West Liberty Ky., was born on Wednesday April 6th, 1966 at Saint Claire Medical Center in Morehead Ky to Ishmael and Phyllis Law Sexton and departed this world on Saturday February 15, 2020 after a short, hard fought battle against pancreatic and liver cancer surrounded by family and close friends.

Michael Joe was united in marriage to Patty Jean Burke Sexton on November 30th, 2019. Michael Joe leaves behind to mourn his passing, his wife Patty Jean sexton whom he love to pieces, his parents Ishmael and Phyllis Law Sexton of West Liberty, Ky., his two children a son Michael Jay Sexton and his wife Gerrica, and his daughter Abbygail Rose Sexton all of West Liberty, Ky. Michael Joe also leaves behind his two four legged babies Smokey Ray and Essie Mae Ray. Three brothers Junior Sexton and Patricia, Gerald Sexton and Becky, Tony Sexton and Wanda all of West Liberty, Ky and seven adopted siblings Brandon ~ C.J. ~ Bradley ~ Mitchell Sexton all of West Liberty, Jessica Keeton (Carl), Natasha Holbrook (Nathan), and Sarah Sexton all of West Liberty. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins by the dozen. Michael was employed at Lonnie Bishop Construction. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandparents Arvil Law and Ruthie Fairchild Law, and his paternal grandparents Henry Sexton and Lillie Perry Sexton.

Michael Joe was saved on Friday December 13, 2019 at the Lick Fork Pentecostal Church, where he became a member and is now resting at the foot of the throne in Heaven. Michael Joe’s greatest passion was hunting, fishing, woodworking and his love for God, his family and his friends. Michael Joe spent his last days testifying to family and friends about the love of God and his many blessings. Michael Joe’s final wish was to see all his family and friends accept the Lord in their life so someday all would be united again in Heaven. We grieve because you left us but reassured by God’s promise that we can be together again. To be absence from this body is to be present with the Lord and there can be a great family reunion someday and Michael Joe would encourage his family and friends to join him there. Our loss is heavens gain. Michael Joe will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday February 19th, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lick Fork Pentecostal Church located on Route 7, West Liberty Ky. with Pastor Jonathan Sargent and Speaker Alonzo Keeton officiating. Burial in the Sexton’s Cemetery, Hwy. 1002 West Liberty, Ky. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 18, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. at the Lick Fork Pentecostal Church. Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY in care of arrangements. Pallbearers: Junior Sexton, Gerald Sexton, Tony Sexton, Kyle Sexton, Adam Sexton, Zach Sexton, Cody Harper, Dukie Adkins, and Lynn B. McClurg.
