Rex M. Nickell

Rex M. Nickell, age 87, of Hazel Green, KY passed away Wednesday October 19, 2022 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY after a brief illness. Born June 4, 1935 in Hazel Green, KY to Joe & Myrtle Nickell. He graduated from High School at Hazel Green Academy, Honorable Discharge from the U.S Army Reserve. He served from 1956 to 1962, he retired from General Motors in 1991 after 33 years of service in Vandalia, Ohio. He was a member of the Hazel Green Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 66 years with the Pieratt Lodge, Lee City, KY # 725 F & AM. He received the Kentucky Colonel Award on July 29, 1963.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joe Nickell & Myrtle Nickell, his wife Darlene Collins Nickell and brothers, H.H (Bee) Nickell, Quentin Nickell, Bill Jack Nickell.

Survived by his children, Sandra (Ryan) Standish of Somerset, KY, John Nickell of Hazel Green, KY. His granddaughter, Ashleigh Nickell of Morehead, KY, Sister in Law, Betty Nickell of Hazel Green, KY, a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday October 22, 2022 at the Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel with Pastor David Fields officiating. Interment in the Hazel Green Cemetery, Hazel Green, KY. The visitation starts 11:30 AM Saturday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.

Masonic Rites will be conducted at 12: noon Saturday October 22, 2022 by the Pieratt Lodge # 725 F & AM at the funeral home chapel.
