Ruby Adkins Wingo, 85 years of age, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Morgan County ARH Hospital. She was born April 02, 1939 in Salyersville, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Nickell Adkins. She attended Old Grassy Christian Church in Mize, KY. Ruby was united in marriage to Albert Jay Wingo and to this union was blessed with four children: Stephen Jay Wingo (Jennifer) of Grove City, Ohio; Janie Ellen Wingo of Mize, KY; Carolyn Elaine Keeton of West Liberty, KY; and Bruce Albert Wingo of West Liberty, KY.
Ruby worked as a seamstress for 47 years, she was known as an excellent seamstress who took great care and pride in her work. During her career, she made many close, lifelong friends that she truly appreciated, kept in touch with, and talked of often. In her later years, Ruby enjoyed quilting and sewing gifts to give to her family and friends, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She especially adored her time with Brent, A.J. and Jayden, her “sugar pie” grandchildren that she defended unconditionally because in her eyes they could do no wrong. She also cherished visits with her great grandchildren: Waylon, Mack, Brayden and Kranston, whom she always referred to as “my babies”.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dora Adkins: her husband, Albert Jay Wingo, five brothers: Harlan Adkins, Homer Adkins, James Adkins, Hershel Dean Adkins, and Woodrow Pete Adkins; and six sisters: Myrtle Adkins, Rosa Lee Adkins, Della Mae Long, Thelma Jean Allen, Ruie Adkins, and Ada Gray Montgomery.
Ruby is survived by her children Steve, Janie, Carolyn and Bruce, her grandchildren: Thomas Brent and Shelby Keeton of West Liberty, KY; Alec Jay and Kristen Keeton of West Liberty, KY: and Jayden Robert Wingo of Grove City, Ohio: and her great grandchildren: Waylon Kolt Keeton, Mack Thomas Keeton, Brayden Lane Hutchinson, and Kranston Jay Keeton, all of West Liberty, KY. She is also survived by three sisters: Ruth and Jim Waugh of Cecilia, KY; Ann and James Leach of Mount Sterling, KY; and Honna and Ronnie Cole of Ezel, KY.
