Ruth Brown Obituary

Ruth Brown, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024 in Grand Rapids, MI. Born on January 14, 1939 to Roger and Gladys Lykins, Ruth lived a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories. She was married to her beloved husband JB Brown until his passing, and together through her grandchildren, they built a life centered around family.

Ruth is survived by her children, Sandy Ward (Jim) and Rod Brown (Nan), who meant the world to her. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Erin, Addison, Sam, and Katie, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. She is also survived by her brother Joe Lykins. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her infant son Randy , and her sister Deloris Fugate.

Ruth was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for family. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and delicious candy making, especially her Christmas candies and fudge. She also enjoyed Kentucky basketball and quilt making.

In her quiet strength and gentle kindness Ruth touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love and light she brought into the world. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with us all.

A memorial service to honor Ruth’s life will be held at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, KY on Saturday April 6th 2024 at 1:00 with Bro .Rick Pelfrey officiating. Interment in the Geobel Vance Cemetery, Vance Fork, KY, Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
