Timothy McNeilly Obituary

Timothy James McNeilly, age 63 of Hazel Green, KY, formerly of London, KY passed away May 18,  2023.  He was born May 17, 1960 to James and Betty McNeilly of Mecosta County, Michigan. As a young person, Timothy worked in several family-owned Michigan businesses, including a restaurant advancing his culinary talent. He graduated President of his high school class, and went on to work on the congressional staff of Congressman Donald J. Albosta and, later, Rep. Donald W. Riegle, of Michigan. He also served as a liaison to the White House. He later went on to serve with distinction at the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Office, retiring from USDA Rural Development’s Kentucky State Office. During his Federal career, he advanced policy goals for several administrations, and traveled extensively to assist in program implementation and oversight.

A lifelong supporter of Special Olympics, Timothy also gained Veteran’s special wellness-interest in former Gulf Wars, Deserts Shield and Storm activities and assisted in the movie production of “Thanks of a Grateful Nation.” An honorable Kentucky Colonel and Duke of Hazard, he was a prolific writer, singer and author. He penned poems, music and a book, “Verily I Say.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, James and Michael.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne McNeilly; two children, Joshua and Jennifer Kinney, and son-in-law Christopher Stine with their children, Carter and Emmett. Siblings are Mark (and Mary) McNeilly; Peggy McNeilly; Pam (McNeilly) and Michael McGuire; and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Sisters-in-law are Deb McNeilly (James) and Kim Smith (Michael).

The family deeply expresses their fondest appreciation to everyone for their indelible love, kindness and support of Timothy James through all his years of life and work; in friendship and fellowship; worship and prayer. Lastly, we appreciate the Bluegrass Care Navigators for assisting Timothy and helping the family members, including mentionable miracles and mercies of The Lord in this transitional process. His kind spirit now rests in the ages to come, serving The King of Kings and The Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ forever and ever.  Interment will be in Michigan.
